I am hearing that several countries are "Looking"
for a more effective round than the 5.56x45.
I must say that it is about time!
The 5.56 is a very accurate round, But it sadly
lacks killing power on determined adversaries.
Some people will argue that fact, But most of
them have not seen it First hand I'll Wager!
It was Politicians who thought they were soldiers
that brought that &^*% M-16/5.56x45 combo
into military use in the first place, And its Arm-Chair
Generals who keep it there!
I was doing a little research a couple of days ago and
I found where the French used the Model 1907 Winchester
semi-auto in WW I it was chambered for the .351 WSL
(Winchester Self Loading) cartridge. That Cartridge
was a military failure due to a lack of stopping power.
Whats interesting is the fact that it produces several hundred
foot pounds more energy than the 5.56x45!
I am currently trying to gather data to make a case that
the .30 cal. M-1 Carbine actually had a better performance rating
than the M-16 as far as the number of shots fired to
the number of casualties inflicted (M-2 Will be excluded due
to full auto capability I hope) It may take several years,
but I think I'll prove my case!
(I am not a Fan of the 5.56x45 as a military Ctg. if you havn't
gathered that already)
