i found a hole

i found two holes about 4 feet apart. each hole was 5 by4 in. round. there is a trail between the holes. there are haft dollar size cat or for or maybe a coyote track. what is is

kind of small foot print and hole for a dog. Is this near the water?

as in lab, it is smaller. not even close to water in the middle of a pine forset

More than likely its a fox den that at one time was a ground hogs den. This is the time of year when fox look for den sites to raise thier young. The young won't be born for a couple of months. Worm
