OT- Attacked by a BarnCat this AM...
« on: February 15, 2007, 04:11:28 AM »
You guys wouldn't believe this in 1000 years, but when I was out feeding this morning I got attacked by a flippin' wild BarnCat.  It was in the hay and when I grabbed a double handful of for the horse's trough it went BESERK on me...  I couldn't turn that SOB loose fast enough, I shoulda been wearing gloves, Damn Cat...

Oh, the little finger is an old 'OWIE', I left it in Saudi Arabia, but that's another story...

Nah, there (4 of them) are semi-tame and good at keeping the mice down.  The big fat SOB is sitting on a railing looking at some pigeons right now, LOL...

The best way to keep a cat from biting or scratching anyone is to cut their tail off.  Seriously.  You cut it off right behind their ears and it takes care of pretty much everything.  Keeps them from going into heat to...

Wylie,
It works!!!!  Where's you learn that?   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Danegeld,
My neighbor lady used to have 5 cats - the biggest and meanest was "Mickey".  Even though she babied that thing it would tear her up on the hands every once in a while, similar to what you have there.  I don't know why.  Funniest thing ever happened with that cat was it "sprayed" on a wall socket one time.  Blew out her fuse and she couldn't find the cat for hours.

Check yourself for signs of infection - it spreads very fast from cat bites.  Get aTetanus shot or booster, and if you have not yet, get to a hospital or doctor for an exam.  HTH.  Mikey.

+1 on Mikey's advice.  I do remember my neighbor lady getting a couple of serious infections from that cat.

I shoot every stray cat I see. A stray cat is any cat I find on my property. I like birds, we feed them all year long. I also like the small critters. Cats are natural killers and kill for the fun of it. I won't tolerate one on my place. I used to teach cats to swim, at least I tried, for some reason they always drowned. By the way, did I mention that I hate cats????? POWDERMAN.  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

About a year ago a solid black tom cat with the brightest yellow eyes you ever seen turned up on my front porch, I don't like cats so I ran it off, it came back, I ran it off, it came back, this went on for well over a month.  Finally, one day while on my back under a truck the cat came in and laid down beside me.  It got to the point that he followed me like a dog, we never fed it, but it moved in and managed for it's own food, it comes when I whistle, and will lay at my feet all day.  He is big, a little over 20 pounds, and will scrap with the best dog around.

I haven't seen a rattlesnake since it moved in, I don't like them, but this one has earned my respect, and likely has a home for as long as it likes.

I would try and find that cat and have it tested for rabies--very quickly.

Powderman,
You know, it's not good to hold your feeling in and struggle internally with vague thoughts and concepts.  Go ahead, let us know how you really feel about cats.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Now now fellas we should respect all of God's creatures.  I'm sure cats must fill a very important niche in the over all scheme of things.  Why some my best friends own cats... Yadda, yadda, yadda, and all that PC bs.

I've really been working on my shy and backward nature, but I seem to be hung up with a need to please the PC crowd. I'll try to get better, really I will. I'm just afraid I'll offend someone. POWDERMAN.  :D :D :D :D :D :D :-* :-* :-* :-*

Here in Alabama some darn fool convinced the legislature to make animal cruelty to include shooting dogs or cats a FELONY. Can you believe it? A FELONY. I can no longer talk about my fine furry friends and the fun we've had.

BUT....as Brett so eloquently put it:

A friend of mines wife collected every stray cat that came around. She would go visit folks in Texas every summer. After she was gone Dave would open a can of cheap tuna, just enought to let the smell out, and put it on the center line of the hiway in front of his house. The trick was just to let out the odor but not opened enough that the little vermin could actually get a taste. Can removed daily til all of the vermin were gone, the state picked up the dead cats. Can was left out all night, removed in the morning. He could honestly tell his wife that they were killed on the road. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
