Skunkie, I have been using my Deerstalker for 11 years now and still love it. I have shot everything from sabots to balls, and had good accuracy with most. I put a Magnum Spitfire nipple on, and have had no problem using Pyrodex or 777. In wet or very cold weather I use Goex ffg or 5 grains under the main charge of Pyrodex to help set it off. I do most of my deer hunting with the round ball, and find it works very good. The only problem I came across, was with Bore Butter. It built up in the bore and destroyed accuracy. It took 2 days, 2 brass brushes, a bag of patches, a bunch of WD40, and a lot of not nice words to get the crud out. It now shoots as good as ever. Good luck with a fine rifle.
