 I know I swore I wouldn't own Buy another HANDI But that 35 Whelen at Wal Mart for 200 smackers is awfully tempting. So the question. How are those 35 Whelens shootin

It's a moot point, they're no longer made, H&R discontinued them, Walmart's supplier doesn't have any and won't get one for ya. :'( Matt Parliament is real happy with his, but several others had problems with no fires and got no help from H&R other than replacement of the barrels.

I don't know anything about the NEF/H&R .35 Whelens, but I have had very good success with the round. I have have a Remington 700 Classic in .35 Whelen and have taken deer, bear, moose, caribou, and coyotes with it. My rifle shoots well with the 225 gr bear claws in Federal Premium. Federal has just started offering the round again, so supply shouldn't be a problem.

Same with me.  Got the round, but not the Handi.

It's a great round and will shoot anything in North America and the rest of the world, except the largest dangerous game in Africa.

Took mine to africa and shot everything from Kudo to Springbok & Blesbok.  They all dropped with one shot.

American deer, elk, caribou are no sweat also.

However, it's a large slow bullet.  So don't think you're going shoot ground hogs at 400-500-600 yards with it.  Most of your shots will have to be 200 yards or less, unless of course you're an artilleryman.

That is a great deal and I say buy it. The problem with the recent .35 Whelen misfires as I understand it has been traced to a bad batch of ammo. I have an original  26" .35 Whelen barrel for my Handi and it is outstanding. If I saw one for $200 I would snap it up, especially since Federal has re-introduced the round and there is good relaible factory ammo out there. if you reload there has never been a problem with it!!!....<><.... :)

if anyone has a .35 Whelen barrel they are disgusted with and want to sell cheaply I am always here
and could always use another nice .35 Whelen, I would however prefer an ejector!!...<><.... ;D ;D

My .35 works beautifully.  Did have a problem with it not firing factory ammo, sent it back and they fixed it.  No problem since.  Getting ready to take it out for spring bear when the bears come out.
