What is the trick sight set up? A Williams peep or XS ghost ring?

I have a Williams FP-336 on mine and find it is very fast to use and amazingly accurate, way better than the factory rear sight

It's a  5minute job to fit it, it just screws into the rear scope mount holes on top of the action and you get a bit of a sight radius increase because of that too.
The FP can also be used as a ghost ring sight by simply removing the aperture.
You will gain some sighting speed but probably lose some precision, its's leaves a 3/16" sized hole there.

Also, you can retain the factory front sight if you choose and save some $$ that way with this option.

It really depends on how you are planning to use the rifle as to what sight setup you go for.

I just got a guide gun with the xs set up scopemount & xs peepsight. Its got a scope on it so I havent shot with the peep yet. It looks pretty simple . I may be getting rid of the scope & start using the peep
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

If it were me...I'd keep both...since you already have it...Peeps & ghost rings are nice and have their places..but..won't ever take the place of a good scope.Namely cause they can't give you those extra few minutes of being able to discern the animal clearly...both at first light...and at last light...or give you any magnification if it's further out than anticipated...and since yours is removable...if you don't need it during good light..or in thick brush..you can take it off...and put it back on when you need or want to..

Mine came with the ghost ring peeps and I like it. It is very fast to acquire. However, I may try a Scout set up and the new LEver Evolution ammo for more precise aiming. If you like peeps, either the Williams or XS are great choices.

I usually scope my 336 for hunting, but for irons I got a NECG peep sight that fits on the Weaver scope base and a Millett 100 series post for the front dovetail. Much better than factory irons.

I think I will go with the FP.  They have a large aperture for it. Will still have my front sight and the factory rear sight folded down for hard times.

Hello from Norway. I have a guide gun with the Wild West ghost ring sight. (from Midway) This has worked great form me. Have not tried shooting for pin point accuracy at longer distances, but for anything inside 50 meters, it does a great job.

I like a williams, lyman or brockman sight. They give you the ability to switch from a ghost right to a smaller apature depending on hunting situations. The hands down best front sight ive found is the post front that brockman makes. I think xs front is very simular. I dont like fiber optic fronts as there fragile and ive broken them in the field and they just dont give me a precise enough sight picture for long range shooting. If i was conserned with low light shooting id go with a trinium front. The fiber optics actually only give you a few more minutes of hunting in the evening then a plain black one does anyway. Now a brockman front post with a trinium insert might be the slickest thing yet a guy could with a lyman or williams have two marks on his sight body one for the blade top and one for the trinium and easily drop the rear a tad in the evening to match the trinium

[The fiber optics actually only give you a few more minutes of hunting in the evening then a plain black one does ]

Arguably, one of the two the most critical game movement times of the day - along with the predawn dimness before full light.

The fiber optic sights are also very good in dimly lit areas hunted during the normal course of the day - like black cedar swamps/thickets, etc - or any shadowy area.
