unless you just want a new barrel, why not remove the cantilever and get a receiver scope mount.

I just don't feel they are reliable, but really haven't looked for alternatives. I'm gonna try straightening the cantilever before I do anything. That gun has been my "partner" and killed everything I have minus 2 deer for 35 years! I'm about to set up the 20 ga...and let him rest....breaks my heart a bit tho... :(

Don't give up on the ole boy. Go slow, I don't know what type of metal that cantilever is but I don't think it will take much. I don't have a 20 ga slug gun yet, but I've been thinking of getting one to match my 870 12 ga. GOOD LUCK....

I can't even think of such things....this barrel has no problem shooting one big hole at 75 yrds!! Its still printing a clover leaf at 100..... I'll MAKE a new cantilever before I give up a shooter! I was really more interested in going 20ga with a new "superdooper" Heavy Bull....just need to hear from someone that has printed paper with one....soooo, you must have a fix for it them. I didn't think Remington offered replacement cantilevers...do they? My FFL buddy said no.

45/70...go slow it will be...the ol' boy has to have something to do... ;D

I know how you feel when you have a good shooter. Just an idea take the canti off and JB weld scope bases right to the barrel. I have a Hastings that way works great with a pistol scope.
