Charles Daly Revolvers......

Recently seen in a magazine article, a couple of new revolvers from CD.
Two versions of birdshead gripped single actions.  I really like the looks of them, but have no idea what they sell for.  I have never owned a CD gun, but a buddy used to have a CD semi shotgun.  What kind of reputation do they really have?

I have no experience with the CD revolvers, but I have had 3 different guys show up to our bi-monthly pistol shoots with CD 1911's, all 3 needed to borrow guns to shoot because none of the CD guns would function even with hardball ammo.  I know it's only 3 guns, but 3 out of 3 isn't very good.  These guys all bought them because they were much less than the other makes of 1911's.  In their cases, it wasn't money well saved.

The CD single actions should be OK.  One received a good review in Gun Tests.  CD is just an importer.  The revolvers are made by Pietta who also makes AWA, which seem to be pretty nice.  Their shotguns are made in Turkey.  Their 1911's are made in the Phillipines and are imported under a couple of other names.  None of the Phillipine .45's are too well thought of.

Phillippine craftmanship is good, but quality control and metallurgy is their shortcoming.

If you are open for suggestions.......... I have just looked at the new Heritage Rough Rider 'Big Bore' revolver.  Colt SAA styling with a transfer bar and half cock on the hammer.  Nicely done by Piettia (sp?) in Italy and assembled here in the U.S.  I'm quite impressed for an inexpensive single action revolver ($325 at Jay's).  If I were looking for a clone, but wanted the option of carrying six, I'd buy this or a Taurus Gaucho and the Heritage is $75 cheaper.  Peittia is known for quality guns.  Just my 2cts.  44 Man

Thanks everbody.

I should say I will probably talk myself out of it.....

I already have a Ruger Vaquero old model in 44mag. But, man those Birdshead grips look cool.  Just had some concerns on recoil in a 44....with the bh grip.

Not to mention, there are no gunsmiths locally.  So to have a gripframe installed on mine is pretty much out of the question without sending it off.  BUT, that would be a good time also to have the sights regulated......

Decisions, decisions......

Thanks all.

Any suggestions on who to have install a birdshead gripframe on an old model vaquero, and regulate the sights???
