« on: February 03, 2007, 03:32:47 PM »
I just bought a BRNO in 458 win mag today at a show, does anybody have experience with these rifles? I'll let you know how it shoots in a week or 2.

Congrats on the new rifle! I have no experience with BRNO, but just bought a 45-70 NEF, so I've been bitten by the big bore bug too! Let us know how it shoots...

I've had a few of them over the years. They are not the slickest actions and the wood to metal finish isn't the best but they are shooters and get the same job done a $2000+ .458WM does for around $400. I have killed 6 brown bears with one or the other of them. 71.5 grs H4895/400grBarnes X/Fed 215 primer will kill anything that inhabits this earth up to and including elephant

Finally got out to fire a few shots........ well 2 to be exact. My wife was with to sight in her new rifle and was frozen so I only had time for 2. The recoil seems to be a LOT less than I had expected. When I start doing some grouping I will update ya!

Great you got to shoot it!!

Get out, enjoy it!  Try various reloads -- just for fun!!!  (reloading pays for this cartridge)

Make sure you see how much work to clean the bore of the fouling!!!

Started with a .458 Win -- later sold it.  Got a .375 H&H... got another .458 win, then a .458 Lott, then a .416 rem -- latest is a .416 Rigby...  May this one be for you the first of many to come!!!
