Anschutz two stage trigger for Rem 700.
« on: August 09, 2004, 02:56:53 PM »
Could someone please explain how the Anschutz dual stage trigger works/feels when it is being fired?

What I mean is: does it have a stop/pause after the first stage is taken up?  How do you know when you have taken up the first stage and the second stage is about to engage?  For example: 1.5 pound first stage and then a stop and then the rest of the 8 ounces assuming a 2 pound total weight?

I have read through the archives on posts concerning the dual stage triggers and am still confused as ever.

Also who has these triggers with the rem 700 hangers for sale?

Thanks!

I am not the all knowing but I have 2 different annie 2 stage triggers. They are fully adjustable. The 2+ lb on you mentioned functions exactly as you described. On my 1712 I have the first stage set on ~1 lb 12 ozs or so. When you pull on the trigger and exert the ~1.5 lbs it will come back so far and stop. At that point, it's on the wall, It's a single stage 8 oz break from there. i.e. you areon the wall until you exert another 8 ozs and it breaks. I hope that clears that up a bit for you. Keep in mind this is fully ajustable, in every way imaginable. The match trigger on my 54.18 can be set up with or without a wall, no first stage, etc. Options are not limited if you talk with the right person. on the 2 stage hunter you mentioned I am trying to describe the factory settings.

Briley (1- 800-331-5718) has sold the "hangers" in the past at the shoots I have been to. If you get someone who dosen't know what you are asking for, ask to speak with Bobby Pitchford and tell him George from Arkansas told you to call him.

I'm sure there are better places and higher qualityinfo, I wanted to share what I had, I know someone will come along and give you another point of view and help out.

Thanks George that does clear up some muddy water.

Is there several different versions of the Anschutz trigger that can be used for the Rem 700 action?

I would say since I can use mutiple triggers in my 54 action, and this hanger is for Anschutz, I would go out on a limb and say that it will allow you to use the triggers that are for the 54 action guns, how many there are? No clue to that one.

They are devices used to adapt an anschutz trigger to a remington action. The one's I have seen are cnc machined alum for what that is worth. I can't remimber what the one from Briley are price wise...I think it was either $90 or $50 ???? I don't remimber if it was a true "drop in" part or if smithing is still required.

After I saw them I debated a number of things, small bore shooter mind you, I asked a local smith about adapting an annie trigger to a CZ or XX?? other rifle?? I was told that the remington, like the annie uses a seprate device to retain the bolt into the action, allowing the trigger to preform only one function. How do you remove the bolt from a CZ... you pull the trigger. I was told it would be much more complicated to do on an action that did not have a seprate bolt catch similar to the annie or remington. I was told that MANY sucessful anschutz trigger conversions have been done over the years to guns like the ns 522's and the likes but by gunsmiths only. I weighed the options and went ahead and bought the annie with the trigger rather than working it bassakwards.

Now, the 700 is a different story all together. I shoot a 700 in 7-08 for high-power. When/if I get serious about that game, that gun will sport the hanger and the annie trigger set up identical to my small bore rifle.

Man..sorry to babble...lol

Awesome trigger, no argument there. But, if you're thinking of installing yourself on a 700 and don't have a milling machine and machine skills, and pretty good mechanical set-up skills you would be well served to back away from this one. Pricey little trigger to be rat tail filing on!

CB,

I have none of the experience that it would require to do it my self. I thought that was what the "hanger" was. A pre-fabed part that allowed the Anschutz trigger to be a "drop in" mod to the remington action. I'm sure I wrong on that, like I said at the time I was looking for an annie trigger to shoot the SM game with so I did not look into it that far... I just knew by the time I got a 40x action, re-barreled, bought the annie trigger, got a stock I liked, I was past the $ for the 1712...

I talked with some of the national high power shooters about this trigger and found out that the trigger is supposed to sit lower in the stock possibly requiring a new bedding job.

I was worried about the longevity of the trigger parts with a heavy trigger spring and that does not seem to be an issue either.  Only problem is the price. :)

the hanger from Briley is $95,but it is available from champion shooters supplies for $90. I am intending to get one myself for a 700. they are also made for model 70.
