Is it possible to cut a chamber...

Is it physically possible to cut a chamber to work with both the 450 marlin and the 45/70?  I have it in my head that it might work.  I know when a 45/70 case was in the combined chamber a void would be where the belt from the 450 would be and when the 450 was chambered the larger case head of the 45/70 would make a void there, but im guessing the 450 would head space on the belt and the 45/70 could head space on the rim.  What do yall think?  would the 45/70 case split when it fireformed to the 450 belt area?

I don't have either, however I don't think any case would fire form to the belt area, most likely it is below the solid bottom of the case, I would cut a case length wise and take a look.  Larry

I would bet the 45/70 will seperate the case head as the case fails between the case head and the front of the belt cut on the 450 chamber. The 45/70 will likely not hadspace on the mouth of the case, they are rimmed and the rim provides the headspace.

I agree with gunnut69. You could easily cut for the rim of the 45/70 but I believe you would experience blown out cases in short order. I wouldn't do it.   KN

To check simply section a 45/70 case and measure the thickness of the web(the case head thickness) against the length of the 450 Marlin from the front of the belt to the case head..
