The trip to the range went well except the wind was howling about 25 mph.  The gun shot well no miss fires or problems I could detect.  It jumps in the hand less than I expected I had shot a 44 mag blackhawk a couple of yrs ago and it was hard to hold on to.  Maybe the porting helped a lot with the raging bull. After sighting in at 25yds I shot some 3 shot groups at 25 to see which load had the best accuracy.  The win plat tip had all 3 touching the corbon HC had 2 touching one about 1'' from others tried both again win none touching but all 3 really close and corbon about the same. At fifty made some sight adjustments set the win load about 2.5'' high so I would be close to on at 100yd.  Shot 3 shot groups again win load all 3 were inside 3'' corbon about 4'' ,  The two loads had about 2'' POI differance at 50yds. At 75yds the win were about 5'' but the 1st two were almost touching I think the wind was really starting to affect the groups at this point. The corbon grouped was about 5'' as well. I only tried one round a piece at 100yd and almost hit the bullseye with the corbon about 1/2'' out and the win was about 9'' off.  Got lucky with the corbon I guess. I was starting to get low on ammo so I tried the shooting sticks and at 50yds groups were pretty much as good as the bench.  With 8 rounds left I tried free hand at 25yds only about a 6'' group but the wind was really blowing me around and 5 of the 8 were inside 3''. So 4 boxes of shells I feel real good out to fifty yds as long as I have a rest.  I have a few more questions.  I was cleaning the gun about every 15 shots what do U recommend?  And on the red dot scopes do U turn them on when U start into the woods or just when game approches? How long do the batterys normally last?  I turned it on when I started and didn't turn it off until I was done about 1.5hr.  I was resting the gun on frame just in front of the trigger guard Thanks again for advice.

Distance: How far are they from you, when you see them? Are you going to be hunting with dogs, or from a stand or some other method? Bullet: I'd have to agree with the hard cast guys, for hogs. Tauraus: I would of choosen one of the American made guns? Next weekend: Shoot your gun till you are proficent with it, unless your already a shooter who has experience your not telling us about I would think it will take more than a weekend!

We had to postpone the hog hunt due to all the severe weather, going to try again in 2 weeks.  Ive put about 250 rounds thur it now ( definitely going to have to learn to reload) and the Win plat tip 240grs and fed cast cores are the most accurate when I do my part the gun will put them all inside 2'' at 50yds from the bench. I've been shooting a lot of the win 175gr since there cheaper to get some practic in but they dont group as well I'm getting 3'' at 50yd with them. I've had a blast shooting and thanks again for all the help. I'm sure I'll have some reloader equipment questions soon.

excellent...
both of those loads are the most accurate in my smith as well

cnc cartridge for practice ammo
and I am going to start to reload and have been researching extensively

I am most likely going with the Lee Classic Turret press kit from cabelas
and for bullets, 240 WFN GC from montana bullet works, going for around 1250 or so FPS
they have the best price on bullets I have found
got to figure out the powder, but leaning towards hodgdon tightgroup and should will also work with 45 acp which I shoot a bunch of...
