Unknown .44 mag rifle
« on: January 11, 2007, 12:08:18 PM »
I saw on the net a bolt-action rifle in .44 Magnum. It was a modified mauser action with a short barrel in a black synthetic stock. It was modified to use Desert Eagle magazines. It didnt look like the conversions they sell in Shotgun News, it looked nice. Does anyone know who makes these or where to get one?

so that would make the standard plain jane rifle at 825 ( English pounds) cost $1599.84 at today's exchange rate, plus any import duties and taxes, plus any extras you might want? I woulkd estimate your cost to be somewhere around $2,000.00 American dollars. That is a pretty hefty chunk of money for what you get, it would be cheaper to have a gunsmith here do the work!!!....<><....:)

It's not a "modified mauser", as posted above - it's a modified "smelly", or SMLE [ short magazine Lee-Enfield], long a standard, in .303, in the British Army before the advent of automatics/self-loaders.

They're easily identifiable by the separate buttstock, joined with a thru-bolt to the receiver socket seen separating the buttstock at/under the bolt handle.

They have a rear locking lug on the bolt, and a replaceable bolt head for headspace adjustments.
