Uberti in 45 colt is it worth the $$

Opinions wanted. i was at the gun shop over the weekend and they had a new Uberti 45 colt with a 5" barrel for 279$ I was just wondering if it was worth the price or not. For just a shooter is it solid enough to hold up? What you think?

Considerable opinion seems to be that they're built better than a current Colt. I have one, probably the same as what you are considering (I paid about the same). I've got about 500 rounds through it and it shoots fine. You will probably need to attend to the (usual) SAA cylinder pin ejection issue, but it's  not a difficult or expensive fix. The Uberti is certainly a great way to see if you like a SAA and/or 45 COlt.

I've owned three of them before and they are well made guns that look and feel like a Colt for a LOT less money. All of them were 4-3/4" barrel guns and all hit way too far left to suit me with most loads. I've now gotten another this one with 7.5" barrel and am hoping it hits closer to point of aim for me. I paid $285 out the door for it new in box. Yes I think they are well worth the price as long as you understand they are for the old Colt loads ONLY not the higher pressure stuff.

Graybeard is there any way to corect the shooting left problem? i no it don't have a back site so can you get enough out of the front site? i am use to Rugers bh and i don't no if i would like to have to compensate my point of aim. but it is a very appealing traditional looking pistol for the price!

I would have a drift adjustable dovetail front sight installed. I would also have it tuned up and the internal parts hardened. Alan Harton in Houston Texas can do both.  aharton@hotmail.com

My newer Uberti Cattleman revolvers are great. Two of them hit to the left and I fixed that by widening the rear sight notch to the right with a triangle file. A little touch-up blue and it looks fine. Others I've had hit point of aim out of the box.

Yes there are fixes most beyond my repair skills but like others have said a gunsmith can fix it for you I'm sure. The factory WILL NOT, been down that road before.

I have the Millenium model in 357Mag. Seems to be built really well. It does shoot about 2" low and to the left of POA @ 25yds, but that is acceptable for my needs. Most places that I have looked at that sell Uberti's don't seem to carry this model in 357, but I lucked out and found a store that had them in stock. Had to get it transfered to an FFL in Cheyenne. $259 for the gun, $7 for shipping, and $10 for the NICS check/paperwork at the FFL.

It is not the prettiest, but is still a nice firearm.

I found mine only shoots to the left with some ammo, especially Black Hills. Ultramax and PMC shoot pretty straight and dead on in mine. I have only tried reloads once and it was quite windy so it was shooting low, but straight.
