Got a couple the past two weekends...
« on: November 17, 2006, 03:36:56 PM »
Well the grandson started the hunting season off by busting his first boar hog. Shooting my Ruger Compact .308 with some reduced loads, pushing a 125gr Nosler BT out at just over 2300 fps, he dropped one which went about 150 right in it's tracks. What a hoot that was. I even got it on tape to boot.

You might have to look close, sometimes it is clearer than other times. The hog comes in from the bottom right.

Enjoy,

Here he is with his first Hog....

I ended up getting one about the same size this past Saturday evening, but it wasn't nearly as exciting. Hopefully we will get a few more in the weeks to come.

41 mag ...

Great job at helping your grandson create "lifetime" memories. I doubt he will ever forget that hunt. You started him out in the right direction at an early age. Kinda wish I would have discovered boar hunting a lot sooner than I did. It is a thrill all good men need to experience. Oops .... and ladies too ....

Congratulations ... My Cody is a little bit older, and a cadet at the Air Force Academy.

We got a couple of hogs when he was home for Christmas, this is his, a 198# boar.

Hunting produces a bond that non hunters can not ever experience.  I love hunting with my sons.  It has provided great memories and a relationship that really allows us to communicate.

Got this sow last evening.  Distance=177 long paces.  Gun=TC Encore .50 caliber muzzleloader.  The pig is the one lying on the driveway.
