I dont think I have shown you guys the 45/70 I got chopped down.  I keep it in box on my 4-wheeler.  Its 27" overall with a limbsaver pad.  Its a cool little gun.
The other is a 450 I had flutted, teflon coated, and a limbsaver pad.  Its almost 2lbs lighter now that its flutted.

That's Sweet!  If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to have the one fluted?  Did that have any effect on accuracy?

on the 450 including labor it cost flutting $125, teflon coating $75, limbsaver $60 for a total of
on the 45/70 including labor it cost $45 to cut down and re-crown, $60 limbsaver, $40 drill and tap (moved rear sight back to lengthen sightplane)

I like em so in my eyes it was money well spent.

Who did the work?  Fuller Gunsmith at the Cove in Georgia.

Why did I cut the lams?  To make it fit in the box on my 4wheeler.  Plus I like to have stuff thats alittle different than the norm like my 83 dodge d150 4x4 with a cat diesel cranking 1800 ft lbs of torque.

The only thing missing are the wheels , then you could tow it behind the 4 wheeler like a 105 Hoz .  ;D  ;D 

I do like it , should make one fine brush gun for hogs and deer or just about anything that walks , flys or crawls .

2 lbs lighter with fluted barrel and 27" over-all length ... I bet that recoil isn't listed on the chuckhawks website. It sure looks intimidating and would make a pretty darn good home-defense gun when not on the 4 wheeler.

The 450 (flutted one) is standard length.  The 45/70 (short one) is not flutted but is light too.  I'll be shooting both in the morn and will let you guys know how it goes.

Man shooting that short 45/70 is a blast (pun intended)  I love this thing.  Off hand at 50yds Im getting 2"groups.  I was happy.  Im not used to shooting such a short length of pull.  I shot 1 group at 100yds off the bench just to see what it would do with iron sights.  Got the same 2" group.  I was still happy. 

Man shooting that light 450 was stiff.  It pounded very hard off the bench.  I put a 2x7x33 leupold on it and got 1" groups at 100yds with the hornady pointed stuff.  Off had at 50yds I got about 1/2" group once then got 2 groups around 1".  I am very very pleased with both of these.

Hopefully next time I'll have some speed data for you guys.
