Source for Remington 581 replacement stock?
« on: February 19, 2007, 04:53:57 AM »
I am looking for a replacement stock (nothing fancy) for my Remington 581 .22LR bolt action.  I thought I had found a source (Bob's guns in Arkansas) but after placing my order, I was notified that they didn't have anymore.  Numrich (e-gunparts.com) doesn't have any either. The stock from the 541 might also work but I don't think the 582 stock will work as its a tube magazine and the 581 is a clip magazine.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris

The 541 has two mounting bolts I think, if you get the clip fed (582) you would have to fill the hole and cut a slot in the bottom of the stock for the tube.  The mounting screw may be in a different place between the 581 and 582.  Larry

Do you want a factory replacement or just a stock. You might contact Boyds or any of the other gunstock makers.. They can provide 90% complete stocks. You'd have to finish the inlett and sand/finish the stocks surface but you might even pic up one in a laminate.

You might try an email to a GBO advertiser--www.gunstocksinc.com/
