Green Mountain .50cal 1-70 IBS
« on: March 01, 2007, 01:27:25 PM »
Bought an unappreciated( and uncleaned) T/C Hawken and put a GM barrel on her. She'll see alot of woods time in the Pa. ater Christmas flintlock season.I've no experience with GM barrels, ball twist that is, and was wondering what to expect accuracy wise.Sur makes the rifle hang beautifully offhand.I'm figuring if I can keep 3 inside 2 inches at 75 yards I'll be very happy. Also, the manual that came with the barrel neglected to mention a recommendation for ball/patch combo, what do you GM shooters use?   Thanks...

I bought the same barrel a couple of years ago.....shoots near the same hole at 50 yards......

It doesn't do quite so well at 100, but I'm sure it's my vision, and not the barrel.

I can still bounce a coffee can offhand at 100 yards 7 or 8 times out of 10......

I use a .490 speer roundball, .018 oxyoke patch, and 70 grains of pyrodex.

I think your going to like it.......
