Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

The Big Shots are not a conical bullet.  They are .475" Hornady XTP's in a sabot.  You can get them in 325 grain and 400 grain loads.  I also wonder about them.  I bought a bunch of 10 packs at Bass Pro, 11 packages, for $3.00 each, on clearance from $10 regular price.  I thought that they might be some bad medicine for baited bear hunting or some close range boar hunting.  I thought that maybe the .475" XTP's were designed for the .475 Linebaugh, so they should be good killers at ML velocity?  Anyone know for sure?  They look like they would be killers on both ends of the gun.   ;D

Better try them out and buy all the stock - should you like them.

The bullet has been discontinued by T/C for a while now.
Keep that ML smokin'

Bought a 45 /70  340 grain mold from lee and cast some for the omega and they shoot great.I put them through a .451 sizer and used mmp black sabot's.I also tried the mmp orange sabot without resizing , but the sized ones worked just a little better to my surprise.I shot 3 today and got a 5/8" group at 60 yds using 105 gr. pyrodex rs. Lee has heavier 45/70's that would probably work just as well.I also have an older cva kodiak and they shoot great in that also with 95 to 100 gr. pyrodex rs . I haven't tried heivier loads in the T/C yet, this summer I will put the target out to 100 + yds. and give them a try,to much snow right now.I was going to buy a swaging outfit to make the size bullets I wanted but no need to now as these work so well.I can even alter the hardness just a little also.I  made most out of pure lead but made a few out of wheel weights and they went through the sizer ok and shot just as good, but I sure wouldn't want them any harder than that, and certainly no need to be as that is to hard for what I want to use for hunting.I am thinking pure lead with just a little wheel weight added will work fine for what I want.I will do some testing with the phone book routine this summer to see how they expand etc.
Have a great day
