I would like to add that I will most likely lime for next year, I just never got around to doing it in time for it to take effect for the spring. To my mind, Gain is kind of like a quick, effective short-term fix when you don't have time to lime. Personally, I'd rather be hunting than spreading lime, and everyone says that it can take 6 months to a year for lime to incorporate into the soil. Also, I plant smaller, less accessible plots in our mountainous area than someone in agricultural ground might. I think that Gain might be cost-prohibitive (at least for me) if I were using it on larger plots like they plan in the mid-west for instance.
