What is your favorite metal detector you use or would like to use for looking for Gold.
And why do you use it or would like to use it??

the first difference is money.the gold bug went for around 600.00,has been replaced by the gold bug II. not sure what it go`s for now?,the gold bugs are great for nuggets, coins, rings, eck.
the 1280x is for under water use,and detects deeper.sells in the area of 1,200.00 or more.
the minelab is the cats meow, for deep targets.lists for over 3,000.00
i like the 1280x because i can use it in the rain and saltwater, its good to 200 feet down in saltwater.

I use the Minelab 3500 for nugget detecting.
I have three coils for it a 11" mono 11" double D and a small elliptical coil that is very sensitive  and it will pick up #5 shot ::)
I like the detector but it is heavy to for a long day.
My Wife cant handle it too long and I want to get a lighter one for her to use.
I have worked some of the tailing's from the bucket line dredges and found some nice ones deep.
When they say you can judge a detector at a $1 per inch of cost, well there wrong, it's more like a $ 1/2 dollar per inch in those rocks ::) ;D
Before I invest in another unit I want to get a light Gold detector not a unit used for relics.
