Lower Hammer Clearence For Scope
« on: March 04, 2004, 12:27:12 PM »
I stumbled onto a lower hammer angle available from Numrich Arms. I was polishing and honing my trigger and hammer, and snapped the hook end of my hammer off.  I ordered a new hammer, from Numrich and it has a lower angle than the original. The hammer was listed for the SB-1, but it is identical to the original, except for the angle of the hammer. It should allow for a lower scope mount and is easier to access if you don't want to use the hammer extension.

hey there blue, would you happen to have a pic of that? I am kinda interested in trying to figure out a way to have a lower profile hammer. Thanks.
Henry.

Don doesn't get here much any more, but you can check Numrich for the part to see if they have any, I've tried to order them twice, but they always say they're out of em as they're from the old H&R Topper 158.

If you're not planning on doing a trigger job, then you don't need to pull the hammer out, a better choice is to just grind the tip of the hammer off with a dremel as shown in the FAQs link, "Low Profile Hammer Modification." You can take just the tip off flush with the extension, or change the profile of the hammer so the extension fits lower, but usually, just the tip needs to be removed.
