Has anybody tried a 700 gr. bullet in the 500 S&W.  I'm curious if it will chamber.

Bullets half that weight kick enough for me.  I must admit, cases loaded with those bullets are impressive to look at.

joshco has a 500 that i traded to him that was shooting them.  i can't say what they where loaded with, but i know they worked. i bought it and traded it before I even mounted it on a frame.  previous owner said they worked well.  josh has some load data i sent him as well.  maybe he will share.  my computer died on me or i would pass it to you.

Is that the 700 used in the 50 bmg? or a different one. If yes I wonder how the case capacity compares to the 500 whisper?

Went and answered my own question and it is no 50 bmg is .510

I haven't shot em, but Ranger Rick's bullets appear to be bore riders which would work regardless of throat depth.

I have a few of those 700 gr bullets that ranger rick sent with my 440 gr bullets.  They will chamber with no problems in the handi 500 chamber.
