Thinking of having mine rechambered to 243 AI anybody have one?
Another option (and one mentioned already here) is to go with a 6mm AI...which is doable provided it is chambered correctly to allow a snug fit ..I have been discussing doing this with several gunsmiths..and had plans on doing it with my Handi...but will now proceed doing it with my CVA 243...as I reported here..
http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/smf/index.php/topic,111152.msg1098344944.html#msg1098344944I just got my go gauge from Pacific in tonights mail..
.....so...1 part down...the dies and reamer to go...I talked with a gunsmith that Lonnie of Hornady suggested to me last week...and he is more than willing to take on this project...and the beauty of this is..he's within a 5 hour drive of my home here...so I will be able to drive over to his shop...and get some good pics of him and the reaming process on it as it is being done...
The beauty of the new dies should be apparent to anyone that has to fire form any cartridge...and will be a real great way of doing this...As Lonnie explained it to me...once the dies are set up correctly...you'll be able to just load them up after cleaning the cases and re priming..and go shoot them...Any small inconsistencies of the shoulders being slightly rounded will be ironed out on the first firing...He had no problem competing with his on the 1000 yard circuit...using his newly developed 7mm H&K round...and is precisely how he does it...I'll be letting you all know how they work for me...cause if the work for the Elite...they will work on any rifle...Handi's included
There are other wildcats that use the 243 case as well...There is a ton of good information on the 243 and the others here
