Hunting rig for 7 1/2" Redhawk
« on: March 07, 2007, 02:59:38 AM »
Just looking for suggestions for a RH  hunting rig for my un-scoped Redhawk.  I saw a black nylon (I think) Bianchi at Gander Mnt. that looked like the tan Bianchi Cyclone but I can't find a similar one on their website.  The Ranger is the closest I saw.  Any suggestions are welcomed.

i live up north and generally during hunting season it is cold here,  so the bandolier type holsters tjat go over a big jacket are the ticket here.  in a warmer place i can see the benefits of a different rig.  a gun under a jacket wouldnt be very good at all.  by the time you got it out,  the opportunity may be gone.  depends alot on the time of year and the area you hunt.....

cherokee:  I used to lug one of those around on my hip in a Bianci holster and belt with cartrdige loops and after a while it gets to ya - lower back stuff.  I tried one of the ballistic nylon setups (belt and holster) for another revolver of similar weight and it was much easier to carry.

Mine was a Super Blackhawk with 7.5" bbl. If I still had the gun I would have had the barrel cut down to 4 5/8" and that would have made it easier to carry, I'm sure.

Leather is nice and adds character but it is heavy and stiff and creaks and squeaks.  Geez, even at my age I don't creak that loud (lolol).  Mikey.

check these out
http://qh-holsters.com/

made to order
reasonably priced

feedback on the specialty pistols forum is good

I am going to order one for my 657 7.5 with a 30mm ultradot and have 6 bullet loops on the outside, at a 90 degree angle to the gun so they are easy to get with my left hand

I have had a few emails with the guy and I get the "good guy" vibe from him
