Done BUT too many stickies at the top gets to be disconcerting and pushes active threads too far down the first page. What really should be done is a sticky for an FAQ like the folks on the NEF and Mortar and Cannon Forums have with lots of good info in an orderly manner at the top and then folks can look thru that for what they want and not have a whole bunch of individual stickies. If someone will start it I'll sticky it and then you can modify it as needed.

The kit is nice..  you also can remove the stock  and lock the saftey with allen screw so it won't engage .. or use an o ring on the bolt ..

I have a much easier way of doing away with that safety bolt gimmik. If you are a bow hunter, you can take an O-ring off one of your broadheads and put that in the groove of the cross bolt pin.I did this to my Marlin Guide Gun because I got tired of hearing the hammer fall and no boom. It's hard to teach old hunters new tricks. With the O-ring positioned on the left side,it is impossible to push the cross bolt in and it isn't an eye sore either and it's cheap.

There's a better, easier, cheaper way to fix that cross bolt safety and if it ever needs it, can be reversed back to the original confirguration. I did my 1895SS this way and like it better and it only cost me less than .50 cents. I went to the hardware store and purchased a very small rubber "O-ring" which tightly slipped over the crossbolt button and into the ring that the red is painted to show that the safety is in the off position. The use of this 29 cent (for two) item totally eliminated the ability of the button to be pushed from the "fire" position to the "safe" position - no matter how hard I pushed the safety button. To further insure that the O-ring stayed in place, I also slipped a 5/16th exterior retention ring (snap ring) over the button and up against the O-ring. The placing of these two items on the rifle are not noticeable at all and totally eliminate the possibility that this unneeded safety will inadvertently be pushed "on". The rifle can be put back to original configuration in about 15 seconds.

I have a Marlin 336cb, 1895gs, and 39a.

Will this kit fit all three?

I put one and it works as advertised.  It is a 10 min job to put the old one back on and I don't have to go around with my Cowboy rifle being ruined by lawers.

I too use a O ring on Mable[my ported GG in 450} but remind you any change negates warranties.I disconnected the "Ding Dong" on my Dodge Deisel and was reminded by the Dodge dealer that that can cause Dodge not to honor some things and that applies to Weapons as well, good shooting .I have a new 39a in the works.

One thing about installing the O ring and retention ring or snap ring as some call it, is if there is a problem, it can be taken off in about 10 seconds or less. I have had the O ring and retention ring on my 1895SS ever since I got it back from Marlin when they took the micro groove barrel off and installed me a Ballard cut rifling barrel in it's place for free. I had called them and told them that I reloaded for my Marlin and used both jacketed and hardcast bullets, so they changed the barrel out for free for me since I had recently purchased it.

On my Cross Safety I left it on to use on the range.  Many times on the range you need as much safety as possible.  When I go hunting I put the safety in the off position and use a 7/32 black O'ring around the safety button, then I can use the rifle as it was intended to be used in the field by sliding it off of half cock.  You cannot put the cross safety on when you have the O'ring in place you cannot possible get it on.
A lot of guys hate it but I have learned to live with it.  They say they get ready to shoot and the safety is on and all they get is a non-fired round and lost game.  Get an O'ring install it for hunting, that way you do not lose your warranty.  Simple solution to a simple problem.

Hi Montanan,  I came up with a very cheap way to fix mine.  I pretend it's not there!  If someone picks it up and pushes it on I push it back off.  100% guaranteed to work or your money back.  I swear I don't know why so many people worry about these lawyer safeties.  I don't even think about mine unless I read a post on here.  Good luck.  BT53
