C&R Buyers beware!!!!!
« on: May 14, 2003, 03:50:33 AM »
I just recieved three guns from OLD Gun Supply and they aren't in the condition he said on the site they were in.  The barrels are pitted, one reciever shows rust, the other is painted black, one bolt is pitted, one reciever is pitted, and one gun is missing parts and two stocks are refinished so the collector value is gone so buyer beware he prices are too good to be true its a scam for sure.            BigBill

Please spread the word don't let someone get screwed like I did. On another site a guy posted hours after I bought about a lesser condition gun too its not good business to screw people on the net the word gets out there so much more and faster too!!!!!

I feel if you screw one of us you are screwing all of us it could be anyone of you instead of me too think about it. Research who you are buying from before you buy and if you get screwed too post it and let us know about it.

I posted on gunboards.com in the collector/mosin forum pictures of what I recieved from this guy(beater) old gun supply.com go to this site and look at the spanish gun its the one I got click on it and it says very good condition and its not so!!!!!!!!!!

Bill,
When I read your post I was suprised, and checked the link and sure enough it was military antiques. in Ft. Worth.  Both of the surplus guns I have purchased have been from them at there retail store.  My last, which I have not posted was a K-31 in great shape from what I read about the stocks.  I met Eric that day and he was very helpful and professional.  I asked his opnion on a couple of other non- C&R guns and he was happy to answer any questions.  I know this does not help you with your loss, and I did view the pictures.  I also noticed that it was very crazy that day as everyone there was gearing up for the shows that weekend.   I hope for the company's sake this is a rare mistake, and that it is corrected for you.  Thank you for your honest opnion on all your other posts.  I know that I did not loose the cash, but give Eric a chance and I hope he will suprise you.

The only thing is he didn't give an exact discription of the guns condition plus i got pissed when I opened the boxes and seen less condition guns all I ask someone to be is honest about it. I ordered a gun from Samco lastyear she called me right back and told me the exact condition so I won't be upset when I got it and asked me if i still wanted which just blew me away she said it may have small pitts on the reciever and possibly pitts in the barrel and she was upfront down right honest about it thats all I./we can ask for. Just don't sell me a gun thats not complete or pitted thats suppose to be very good condition thats not right and will bite you for sure and did. And its not me alone.                      BigBill

But he does have an unissued yugo sks for $180 since you live there look it over good thats all I can say hands on seeing what you are getting is the best way to go with him.

Bill,

I would be disappointed also if I didn't get what I thought I was getting.

The question I have for you and should have been your first action, did you call and complain? What did the guy say?

The other thing  I have learned from playing this game for 30 odd years. Get a clear definition of terms.  When someone says "very good condition", what does it mean to you and more relevantly, what does it mean to them?  The terms are interpretive.

What's very good to me might be excellent to you.

Your right but he said "VERY GOOD CONDITION" and "ALL MATCHING NUMBERS" with one gun and pitted bore, pitted reciever, black painted reciever and two cracks in the stock isn't my description of very good?? Plus the bolt has two different numbered parts so its not all matching either he failed in both places. And the stock was refinished so the value is really gone to the collector.(on the spanish 7mm mauser)  This one i kept but in many months of work I can maybe bring it back to orginal condition.  My point is he should of told exactly how it looked about the condition and don't make it sound like very good when it isn't thats what pissed me off don't tell me its blue when its red its that easy be honest with your buyers no matter what or it will bite you.

That gun should of been told exactly like this;

1907 Spanish 7MM Mauser short rifle(carbine)  slightly pitted bore, thin rifling but still some shooting left in it, two cracks in the stock and water marks and small pitts on the bolt and reciever.  The overall condition is good $145

Instead he had it "VERY GOOD CONDITION" only

That describes the gun perfectly and honestly no hidden surprises. At Empire arms Dennis under rates his conditions a little to make sure you are happy his prices maybe a tad higher but in the long run your satisfied with what you got.             Thank you for all your conserns BigBill

When a dealer offers a money back guarentee its suppose to be ok?? Why do we need a money back garentee in the first place??
