IL gun owners ALERT!!!
« on: March 06, 2007, 03:43:08 AM »
If this bill passes and you get caught with an AR-15 and 4 mags (LIFE IN PRISON!!!!)URGENT GUN RIGHTS ALERT - IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

The Illinois Senate is about to debate a ban on semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.

If passed, you would have 90 days to register your guns with the State Police or face arrest and felony prosecution.

If you were caught with an AR-15 and 4 magazines, you’d get life in prison.

THREE THINGS YOU MUST DO TO SAVE YOUR GUN RIGHTS

1. Beginning on Tuesday, March 6th, call your State Senator and POLITELY tell him or her that you are opposed to Senate Bill 16 – the Daley Assault Weapons Ban – and that you would like them to vote against Senate Bill 16 when it comes to the floor. If you do not know who your State Senator is, then visit the following web site: www.ilga.gov and then click on the “Legislator Lookup” link in the lower right hand corner of the home page. Follow the instructions at that link.

2. Pass this alert along to all your gun-owing friends; tell them to call their State Senators also.

3. Please post this alert to any and all Internet Bulleting Boards and Internet sites to which you belong.

IF YOU DO NOT ACT NOW, YOU MAY HAVE NO GUNS LEFT BY THE 4TH OF JULY

I very much feared that the Amateur Trapshooting Association would no sooner move to Illinois and then the use and ownership of firearms would be continually threatened and restricted.  I wonder if it is as in many states, the rural people just lack the political clout to fend off the urban crooks and leaches.  I was once stopped for speeding driving a pickup from a local sawmill in a small Rocky Mtn. town.  The mill was owned by a Chicago firm.  The local constable let me off, and seeing my AK drivers license we talked about hunting for some time.  What I best remember is he said he immediately knew when I handed my license to him that I was not from the Chicago office because I hadn't wrapped my license in a $20 bill (it was a long time ago; no doubt $50 or $100 is the fee now).  The only advice I (respectfully and constructively) have for IL shooters is to get involved politically, support the NRA, and if all that fails then there is room for you in Alaska!  Our gun club puts on an annual 3-gun shoot for legislators and staffers.  Scores are read on the floors of the House and Senate.  I can honestly tell you that our legislature is comfortably pro-gun but I cannot say that R's are always the best shots (nor do I necessarily shoot on an R team).   ;)
