Explosion hazards in the home
« on: March 07, 2007, 12:46:25 PM »
My hot water heater gave up the ghost so I installed a new one with assistance of two of my Sons. Both are mid 30's. They asked why I was so critical about the installation.

Watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GF_Wrm-Ns0I  with a 12 gallon tank. We worry about a few pounds of powder, this is a serious explosion. I just installed a 75 gallon tank, wonder what that would do?

I was a fire fighter many years ago and have seen this first hand.

Just thought you all might like to watch this.

The tank water heater in my house gave up the ghost about three years after I moved in and I finally replaced it with a tankless Takagi flash water heater.  Definitely a great move.  Unlimited hot water, no potential steam rocket.  Maybe a little more expensive at the time but the relative prices seemed to have equalized.

Takagi T-K Jr water heater

Sorry no Goex can; it's about 20" H x 14" W x 7" thick.

Hi George;

I had a couple of those instant devices installed in my Upton, CA office. They work great. I also put them in my Tourism Authority Office in Virginia City.

Well I'm getting WAY OT.

Just thought you folks would like to see what a water heater can really do when "pressed to perform".

Regards, Bill
