? Converting to the 25ACP breechplug
« on: March 18, 2007, 09:25:10 AM »
I have a 25ACP breechplug coming to use in my encore.  Where would I get the brass and how many is reasonable to have?  Anyone use the repriming kit sold on ebay for $25 and change?

Thanks,

I just bought a bunch of 25 ACP brass,I have about 150 of them.  Go the Midway USA. http://www.midwayusa.com/ebrowse.exe/browse?TabID=1&Categoryid=9133&categorystring=9315***652***670***9014***

I just use my reloading press with a universal decapping die and use a Lee hand primer to reprime the cases.

Just came back from Cablea's and they didn't have any (no surpise to me--no surpise to my wife that I had to find something esle to buy) so guess I will try Midway.  I don't have a press or a lee loader so might try to pick that all in one set from ebay.  Looking forward to shooting my encore ML for the first time.  Still think i would like a ML turkey barrel for it.

Actually my buddy who went with me had the best suggestion...to buy a new pistol so I could have all the brass I needed!

Cabelas SHOULD have had it...that's where I got mine.

How many to have depends on how often you shoot and how often you want to screw with repriming.  I have a 200-300 of them, I reprime once per year!

The repriming tool is a must have.  When I started I didn't have a press, so I drilled a hole in a piece of wood for the primer to back out and punched them out with a small punch and a hammer.

While you don't need a  press, a Lee Handpress and a universal decapping die works great for decapping the .25 acp round.  You don't have to bolt things down, no banging with a hammer and you can deprime while watching TV.  Works great and at Midway the press is about $21, Decapping die about $9, Shellholder about $3.  Probably could find them cheaper on ebay.  Like Andy said the repriming tool is a must have along with the #15 shellholder.
