problems getting a 30-30 or 45-70

i have been working on getting a 30-30 or a 45-70 now sence january. my local wally world will get it for me and 202.00 but the only problem is they havn't gotten any off them in. so i am still waiting to see when they will finally get me one. I really want the 30-30 but i think i will take either one at the moment. anyone else having a problem getting anything or am i just lucky!

A little over a year ago I wanted a Target Model 38-55 real bad.  Went to Wal Mart and they said they could get one for me and the price was right.  The person in sporting goods called their distribution center and thay didn't have any.  Told me to keep asking and they would check on availability (with their distribution center).  Well, after going back every week for 4-5 weeks so I could ask then to call I got a little tired of it.  Finally went to a sporting goods store that sells a lot of firearms and asked them to "order" one for me.  

It still took over 3 months to get my rifle and cost $20-30 more, but I really got tired of being Wal Mart's reminder.  I later found out that most firearm distributors were out of this model and they were waiting for NEF to make another production run.  At least with the the sporting goods store I knew I was on a priority list and would get delivery when my turn came up and not just miss out because of my timing on reminding Wal Mart to call and check.

Now when I buy firearms at Wal Mart I will buy it if it is in stock at the store, if not in stock I go somewhere else.

Hope you get your rifle soon, they are both good calibers in the Handis.

I got both my 45/70 and 30/30 as 2nd hand barrels just fot this reason , both are a high demand cal. and will bring premium $$ , if you can find them at all .

Gander Mtn said there are in stock but I gave up waiting for them to get one in for me.Buffalo gun ctr in NY has the 45-70 in stock.but I have gift certificates for Gander

My two primary distributors both have plenty of 45/70 blue walnut and  6 to 8 30-30 blue walnut. They are out there so I don't understand what Ganders problem is.

Wally world goes through SportSouth and they are out of stock on both those guns...A while back the guys at MY Gander told me they were dropping one of their suppliers and goiing with SportSouth.  Their other supplier they use is Bill Hicks and I don't have access to their inventory list.
I would not reccommend wasting any more time or any money on trying to order through Walmart.  You may never get the gun if they decide to stop selling guns at your store.  It has happened to others.

There are plenty of sights on line to get a rifle and still support the sport. Wally world should be a last resort since they just cut out the locals. Support your local sport shop and you will get the info needed to go with your purchase. Q

Though many people's choices of where they can buy firearms are limited, I also think Wally World should be last on the list. I support only local shops but I understand why some others go to Wally World. My big beef with Wally World ... when my wife has me accompany her to do some grocery shopping there, I find many wrong prices being rung up at the register. Example ... on the last trip ... boneless chicken package was "marked" on sale for $6.73 but still rang up at $9.72 (regular price.) This and two other items were corrected by the cashier. We are keeping track of these incidents and only 2 trips in the last 8 trips did everything ring up at the right price! In the most polite manner, I brought this up to the manager and she seemed "not surprised." That bothers me just a bit. I would chose to not go back but my wife loves the place.

I've delt with a local that runs Indian River Sportsman for over 2 yrs now. More than once he offered to let me shoot the gun before buying it.  When I thought about getting a 357 Maximum brl he showed me the new 45-70 round by Hornady. Until then I thought they were all black powder. I sold all my other guns but two a Camp 9 and my NEF 45-70. I'll stick with supporting the little guy sorry Wally World. The picture is a goup I shot with a 3X9 scope at 100yrds. I was in pain after the first 10 rounds at 50yrds but I loved moving 5 lbs of dirt with every shot. The next 10 at 100 yrds were just for fun because the scope and my shoulder had issues. I put a 2X32 shot gun scope on it now and plan on getting a pad.
