« on: September 08, 2007, 03:31:24 AM »
well gentlemen i took my new 1895ss to the range yesterday for the first time,i liked the way thebear78 set his up so i set it up the same way, leupold 2.5 scout scope,xs scope mount and xs express sights,i started at the25 yard range and shot three three shot groups, all nicely grouped together at about 5 oclock, then went to the 50 yard range took three more shots and they were starting to scatter all over mostly far left of the target started adjusting the windage to no avail shot three more same result i was shoting off of a caldwell lead sled three more sams results couldnt turn the windage enough to get any thing to group, still all over the place,so i took the scope off and sent three more down range with the xs sights, first three shots were at 7 oclock dead center, needless to  say i was disapointed, any thoughts on whats going on,planning to take the mount off to start all over again

I agree with Lloyd 100%. Check your rings and bases. I always use 242 Loc-Tite when I mount a scope and have never had a problem.

Don't rule out the scope if those mounts and rings CK out OK... I know its a Leupold, but things happen. All I am saying is don't rule it out!!

I have sent many a Leupold back to the factory for a check up. (Its free) It comes back with a wonderful paper showing the adjustment as as well as total amount of movement.

On the older ones, you will see a dimple in the side. There is less and less horizontal movement the farther you get from centered vertically.

ALSO:

I just remembered somethign about that mount.....I believe there was something about horizontal adjustments... RE-Read your mounting instructions... There could be something there.

Yup, loose ring/mount screws - +3

You probably shot 'em loose, if blue loctite wasn't used during installation.
