Learn from my mistakes!
« on: March 12, 2007, 09:13:39 AM »
Last summer I picked up my cannon from it's maker while we were on vacation. I also had occasion to fire it a few times but did not have the facilities to wash it (OR A WORM!)
When I returned home I went to a coin operated carwash and cleaned it inside & out. and lightly oiled it.
At Christmas time I was gifted with a worm head And I procrastinated on finishing it. Last week I finished the worm and stuck it down the bore. AND CAME OUT WITH 4 LAYERS OF ALUMINUM FOIL FROM POWDER PACKETS!
Lessons here to be learned for free:
1. always worm the bore! That force in there pushes that foil BACK HARD
2. Always Examine the bore visually! after each range session!

Why not inspect the bore after every shot. Worm , Inspect, clean, inspect, load. Hot foil can and will set powder off.

I have not ,as yet found a light that will illuminate the bottom of that dark hole, when the surrounding area is bright, sunlit  desert.
if i can find an inspection light with a long enough "neck" it might work.

I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.
