Very Nice 17ghk. I'm impressed with that rifle, especially right out of the box.

What scope are you using?

thanks it shoots better than most others of any caliber that i had. the scope is a mueller apv 4.5-14-40 AO. excellent clarity and the AO is very accurate with the markings on the bell. i did not give savage much thought until now.

Nice shooting,
nice rifle and setup.

I haven't bothered to bed mine. No need, (yet !)

I have a simple Tasco 4 - 16x40 High Country fitted,

and my rest is even more tragic.

I have a couple vinyl 'bag' rests filled with sand.
I have to elevate the front bag with whatever is handy, like steel girder, wood blocks etc

Even then it puts the little pills in an acceptable group every time.

I favour the lighter 40gr and 35gr, at speed ! Low pressures with Lil'Gun.

cheers,

i was in the same boat with elevating the front bag. i wanted something that would cradle the front of the stock better. when i tried the metal rest i made i found that it would not hold steady on the wood bench so i had to use a sandbag under it. works great now.
