New .223
« on: March 12, 2007, 04:19:33 PM »
Finally picked up a Handi in .223 this week end. Got it cleaned up and a scope mounted, but haven't had a chance to take it out yet.  $245. at lgs. Need to pick up some ammo. Only thing local Wal-Mart had was $17. for box of 20. Came with a really decent looking pallet wood stock, but may swap the synthetic off my .22lr Sportster. Been wanting the .223 for quite a while and used this as a late birthday present. Hate not being able to shoot a new one right away. Any recommendations for factory ammo other than the WWB? Thanks.

I bought 200 round value pack 50gr JHP from my local wally world for 55 dollers and my 223 heavy barrel shoots them real well others here have shot the federal american eagle ammo that shot well and is cheap ammo to stay in the 55gr and under range in bullet weight good luck

Thanks,

Both my close by Wally Worlds have gone out of the gun business and have let their ammo supply slide terribly. Have one more to check and hope to have better luck. Can't find value paks of anything locally as yet. Have had good luck with the American Eagle handgun ammo, so will put it on the list.
