Red Dot with .357 Max
« on: March 14, 2007, 07:29:14 AM »
Anyone out there using a Red Dot sight on a .357 max or equivalent?  I tried a Truglo 2x, it forgot how to focus after about 50 rounds.

I have used the Ultra Dot on my max for about 4 years now with no problems.

I'm shooting a Leupold Gilmore red dot for a little over a year on my 357 max no problems at all. Most of my hunting pistols have red dots on them and that would be two 44 mags, 7-30 waters and the max. haven't had any trouble from any of them and the one 44 has had it on for quit a few years 15 -20 ?? not even sure. I have a Bushnell red dot on my 12" 44 mag barrel, I use fairly heavy loads, its doing fine.  I like it out to 50 to 75, after that, I plike a fine crosshair.

I've been looking at the Ultra Dot & the Leupold Gilmore, but am curious what kind of warranty the Leupold Gilmore has.  The web site http://www.gilmoresports.com/ does not mention any details whereas the Ultra Dot is limited lifetime w/receipt.  Got Simmons & Millet on some smaller caliber/recoil barrels but not sure how either would hold up on the Max.
