Well, considering that one of the best gunsmithing schools in the country is in Prescott, there ought to be a few folks in AZ that could handle it. I did get a call from a couple of their graduates recently, I think they called their outfit Arizona custom rifles. Of course there's always Gary Reeder in Flagstaff, but I don't know if he does general barrel work or not.

I did a lot of research on the web and Dan pederson is suppoed to be one of the best.
Well, I sent my rifle to him for some work and its been four months and I can't find out
a thing about it. You would think he would let you know something of the progress,
I can only say that I am not happy with the way he doe's  business. No returned phone
calls and only one returned email over two months ago. If I ever get my gun back I will
never use Him again. my two cents

How about calling the local police to go by and see if he is still in business or has moved on, and took you property with him?....<><.... :)

Licensed gunsmiths are required by BATF to keep records of all firearms. I once had a similar problem on a .45 and called BATF and reported the gunsmith. Had my gun back the next day.

While I have never had a gun re barreled, I have had work done on triggers, recoil pads and semi-auto feeding problems done by these two:

"Jim" at Don's Sport Shop, Scottsdale, Az.

"Derek" at Accuracy Speaks, Rio Salado Sportsmans Club/Usery Mtn. Shooting Range in Mesa.

If they can't do it, they will tell you who can.  Both are quality, reputable craftsman who have never had a problem telling me the status of my firearm when it was in their shop.  I have been extremely satisfied with their work.

One other option... A few years ago, I had a muzzle break installed on a magnum rifle.  Neither of these shops had the muzzle brake I wanted, I ended up sending the rifle away to Williams Gunsmithing in Michigan (i.e. Williams Gunsight Co.).  The work, fit and finish of the firearm is exceptional.  I would not hesitate to recommend any of these three to handle your job.
