Mange in your area?
« on: March 08, 2007, 04:34:43 AM »
Seems like around here in south-central Iowa, I haven't seen many coyotes lately.  Just a couple years ago they were everywhere.  This year and last year while deer hunting my group killed a total of four coyotes with mange.  Last month I found one in a hay pile that had no hair from the front shoulders to the tail.

This being said, is the mange heavy anywhere else?

How long will this take to end?

I shot one back during deer season that had mange so bad that I just wouldn't touch him.
I think that was near the end of November.

I had always thought that mange was only common during the warmer months.

Last summer I noticed a couple of fox out in the middle of the day acting like they were fearless.
Upon inspection they only had about 1/3 of their fur.
