Rare Earth Magnets?

Does anyone attach Rare Earth Magnets to their shovels and/or scoups in order to more easily find metallic objects while digging?  If so, can you make any recommendations regarding magnet strength, type, shape, etc.  Additionally, where do you attach the magnets to these items and how do you affix the magnets to your shovel, etc?  Thanks much and best regards,
