lowall hiwall interchangeability question
« on: March 14, 2007, 05:24:13 AM »
I have an original bubbafied low wall that some idiot tried to convert from rimfire to centerfire by off setting the barrel  The lo wall does have a single set trigger.  I also have an original hi wall in 38-55 with spirit sight and heavy target barrel.  Before I start taking things apart,,,, will the single set trigger from the low wall fit the Hi wall???

longcaribiner,

My original Winchester catalog does not differentiate between "Low Wall" & High Wall", which are later terms resulting from shooters wishing to differentiate between the differences..

The Winchester catalog only shows one trigger for the Model 1885 Single Shot rifle.  One trigger meaning it fits both the "Low Wall" & "High Wall".  The one tirgger design can be either non-adjustable, adjutable single-set, or adjustable double-set styles depending on what was initially ordered or changed to later.  Depending on which adjustable set trigger is installed and also affect which hammer configuration is needed.  Hammer with a fly or a hammer without a fly.  The fly acts as a safety catch if the set trigger should release prematurely and cause the hammer to drop.

An intimate review of the Winchester catalog or drawings should be your first reference of choice.
