Periodicals???
« on: May 09, 2003, 02:44:44 AM »
What CAS type periodicals to you folks keep your noses in when you're not at the range or the reloading bench?  I've recently found Guns Of The Old West and SHOOT! magazines to be interesting, but I'm an FNG, so maybe they're not all that interesting.  Suggestions?

Howdy Pard,
I really like Shoot!!  and subscribed yesterday.

As for Guns of the Oldwest, I subscribed at the SASS convention in December. After 2 calls to find out why I hadn't received the magazine, I cancelled my subscription.  I posted this on the SASS Wire and found I was not the only one that had problems with getting the magazine. So, I would recommend, if you want to read GOTOW, buy it off the rack and save yourself some headaches.

I haven't found any others that are specifically aimed at CAS shooters. Maybe someone else will step up.
Time to fold,

Hummm.  I sent in three subscription cards to Guns of the Old West before I received a reply back from them.  Paid them, still waiting for my first issue.  Could be a pattern here?    44 Man

You guys must have broke them in for me, because I got my first Guns of the Old West like 4 weeks after I gave them my money.  I think that I'll be sending SHOOT! some money here shortly.

was in Barnes and Nobles with the Mrs. yesterday and noticed "Cowboys and Indians."  Thought it was something I could get into but turns out more of a Yuppie Vale/Aspen type.  Oh, well...... :?

Mainspring, I really enjoy "the Black Powder Caridge news" and "the Single Shot Exchange" along with "the Shootist" (the National Congress of Old West Shootists magazine, designed specifically for CAS).  I also like "TrueWest".  The first two are more appropriate for guys that shoot them buffler guns, but they are two of the best magazines I get.
Do a lot of CAS, and BPRC. Love to shoot them Buffalo Guns, Both silhuette and long range.

Of course I get the Chronical and I subscribe to GOTOW and Guns and Ammo, but one thing I get a big kick out of is surfing around and seeing what clubs have websites and usually they have pics of the folks from their shoots. I did that this morning and it is a blast.  :-)
It's one way I get to know what you look like, just in case my dream of a cross country safari and takin' in a bunch of shoots all over, ever comes true, then I will recognize you folks. :-)  Of course I know most of you recognize me anyway and if not well here is a recent pic.
