Who's getting antsy for bowhunting season
« on: June 01, 2007, 01:53:35 AM »
I'm just plain antsy about the hunt... I do spend time with my job scouting around for good areas, and have found many to head too.  Practicing on animal targets is my fix right now besides getting good pictures along the way... kind of a game of tag.. Get the picture of a nice broadside shot, or quartering away or quartering to shot... thru the opening of the trees etc... for now they walk away, but I have the picture to save.

Nope, not antsy at all, haven't even shot my bow since Oct 27 last year.  I suppose its time to start practicing again.

I wouldn't say antsy, well yes I would. In Illinois it's 120 days, 16 hours, 25 minutes, and 17 seconds until bow season :)

Always antsy for bow season. And now it's 120 days, 15 hours, 42 minutes and 24 seconds.

That is why you need to get some rubber heads and use your bow for squirrels and birds and rabbits.  You'd be surprised at how much better you get when you cut your target in four, plus you can hunt all year round.

Wow I practice a bit everyday to keep the edge on my shooting... it don't cost anything like shooting rifles where you burn up all your bullets, powder and primers.  I kinda have the most fun with it more than shooting rifles or handguns.

I hear ya Montanan, I usually practice 4 or 5 times a week during the summer, less often after season starts, then I stop after gun season.  I just can't make the time to raise kids(new one came along a month ago), work, renovate house, keep up tractors and equipment(including hunting equipment), practice shooting, and type on these forums.

Sounds like your days are pretty full. Congrats on the little one.

100 days for me. Been out shooting a couple times a week lately. I need to do more if possible. Also stands and scouting need to be done as well.

Now we've got a new Brittany pup to start training. She'll be pretty young this fall, but she'll be out just the same.

I was recently told about this forum for it's excellent advice on in-line muzzleloaders but I had no idea about that there was a muzzle loaders forum here! There's nothing I like more!

My season literally never stops! From shed hunting soon after our bow season closes to planting and maintaining foodplots in the Spring to glassing food sources in the summer to running trail cams year 'round.... it's a never ending process. Right now the trail cams and weekly 3D shoots seem to keep me going but man,..... come on Oct 1 !!!

Glad to see some bowhunters here!

I've kind of slacked off the last couple of years.  But, this year I've caught the fever early.  I'm planning on scouting tomorrow and probably shooting tomorrow afternoon or Sunday.  I can't wait until October 1st.
