Brass backstrap & trigger guard

Did Colt offer a model 1873 with brass backstrap & trigger guard or is this an Uberti innovation? I have viewed several books of 1st generation colts and have as of yet to see one.

No they did not. But the 1851 was abundant and cheap at the time so I'm sure someone put one together after damaging the the factory grip frame by hamering posts or something.

Again no, Colt never has but Uberti does on some models. Personally I enjoy the look of a brass grip frame on a blued gun, but of course it is not traditional. What ever you enjoy. 44 Man.
