Any Python Experts?
« on: September 28, 2008, 05:54:55 PM »
Can anyone here tell me the ball park value for a blued 3 inch Python?  It's "not" the California Combat or any other special run Python.  No factory box, but shot next to nothing by my grandpa.  Few shiny spots both side of barrel at the tip from being holstered and unholstered.  What I've read on the net tonight is that there are some fakes, but this one I'll get papers from Colt if needed.  Grandpa has had it as long as I can remember and I'm 28.  Serial number is K888XX.  I'm guessing that puts it late 70's early 80's?
Thanks for the help

This thing is smooth as silk, but I don't want to dry fire it anymore.  Might put a drag mark on the cylinder.
Will be posting pics ASAWH.  As Soon As Wife Helps.

Figured out it was made in 82 and not all 3 inch barrel Pythons are rare.  Still have no idea as to value.

I also just acquired a 4in. colt python (blued).  My dad bought it in 71 or 72 when he was a deputy sheriff.  He traded it to my uncle in the early 80's and I played with it my entire youth lol.  I just loved the way it felt.  My uncle passed away in august, so my dad got the pistol back.  He gave it to me that very evening.  And she still feels just as good as the first time I ever remember shooting it when I was younger.  I would also like to know about how much some of these guns are worth.  But I hope you enjoy your python as much as I do mine.

Hello,
I am new to this forum, but I have not seen *any* Pythons, unless they are real clunkers, going for less than 1000 in the last few months, and 3" barrels are always a plus. I am not an expert, on anything.
