THIS IS NOT FOR YOUR PELLET GUN
« on: March 17, 2007, 09:56:32 PM »
Here is one of my last creations .

It is a 1615 Grain Hard cast .880 Bullet lubed with Lar's Carnuba Red .

I am told it is for a 4 Bore ?? Not sure .

I do not shoot these although I have the mold to cast these beauties .

The picture is a tad fuzzy but you can see the size difference .The bullet to the left is a .454 Dia 265 Grain Hard cast bullet .

Would you shoot this ???????

It all depends on what the target was and how much powder was behind the thing.  If it was a charging Elephant, I think I'd like to have this thing in my hands.  If it was just a 55 gallon drum filled with water I think I'd only want to shoot it once.

Hmmm.  One pound of lead weighs 7000 grains, divided by 4 makes 1750 grains.  So a 4-bore roundball should weigh very neigh 1750 grains.  This is a conical bullet and is considerably less than 1750 grains.  Does it have a huge hollow base?

I would guess this is for an 8-bore.

What I'm wondering is what kind of velocity are they trying to attain that they figure they need a hard-cast bullet?  Or are they just trying to penetrat elephant bone?

Yep it is about 135 Grains shy of 1/4 pound .
It is a solid base and has a crimp groove . It just might be for a 8 bore .
Talk about a wound channel !!!!!
