.454 out of .45/.410?
« on: November 10, 2005, 04:59:18 PM »
has anyone shot a .454 casull out of a rossi .45LC/.410? or has anyone thought of doing it? I'm just suroius cause it would make a nice deer thumper and make up for a little chamber space to make for better accuracy. I'm not sure on the cup testing pressure on the barrels or recievers or else i'd try it but am not sure if it'd hold the pressure.
you polite thoughts?
thanks

I haven't...and I seriously doubt that I would...it just doesn't seem like it would be a good idea to do so...if the gun isn't chambered for it why shoot it out of it......why take a chance on ruining it...or risk serious injury to yourself or others...

It isn't made to take the 454 pressure or they'd stamp it as such! Now you could use 454 brass loaded to heavy 45LC pressures as it should be rated for atleast that!  Meaning don't exceed 1200 fps loads! ;)

You think a 260 HP rated at 1200 fps from a revolver would be okay?  I'd like to set up a little short-range deer carbine for my wife, and GA Arms would be my choice, if the li'l rifle can handle it.

the right .45 colt load can be a nice deer thumper within its limitations, fired from a rifle it would be good on whitetails to maybe 75 yards or possibly more. the idea of stuffing a .454 casull into a .45/.410 is just asking for trouble feed your .45 right and it should make a fairly rliable little deer gun.
