Strange?????
« on: March 18, 2007, 10:00:44 AM »
went shooting yesterday. while shooting my Raging bull 500 I noticed something i never seen before (maybe never paid attention)The ammo I was using was magtech 325 grn Sjsp and Hornady 350 xtp. I noticed when removing the spent cases from the Cylinder the brass from the Hornady was as clean as it was before firing compared to the Magtech which had the normal darkness. the rating on the Magtech is 1800 fps and 2341 at the muzzle Hornady is 1900 fps and 2805 at the muzzle. Does the hornady brass fit tighter than the Magtech??? put 3 rounds of magtech and 2 of the hornadys and shot all 5 rounds with the same results..................At the sake of not sounding dumb what could cause this????????

Could be the Mag tech is not expanding the case allowing the gases to come back around the brass.

In which case I would highly recommend a good pair of shooting glasses if you are planning on using that ammunition, but I wouldn't.

I don't know what Hornady is using for powder, but many of the companies are switching to cleaner burning powder.  Winchester is using it's 'Winclean' powder in it's .45 acp ammo and that comes out just as shiney on the inside as it was on the outside.  44 Man
