Value of S&W Mod. 53
« on: May 14, 2007, 03:42:00 PM »
I have a S&W Mod. 53 in 22 Jet. It is in a presentation box with the inserts, cleaning kit and paperwork.
Gun is 98%.
How much is it worth?
I also have 2 boxes of Rem ammo. 1 green and yellow box  and 1 green white and red box( old)
THANKS

old coach:

My Blue Book says a Model 53 in 22 Rem Jet in 98% is:
$ 550 for a 3 screw
$ 650 for a 4 screw
Add 10% for a 8 3/8" barrel
Add $ 200 for extra matching 22 LR Cly.

You have a nice piece with the box and all the original stuff. It will be worth more with these extras.

I hope this helps.  :) :) :)

I'd say it would be an easy sell at 800-850 and if you'll hold off, you could get as much as 1K for based on the 95% condition.

I have a Jet. It is 8 3/8", factory rosewood grips, target everything, inserts and extra 22 lr cylinder. Someone took the cardboard box apart and put the insert in a wood display case. It is in 98% or better condition. I would not part with it for less than $1,400. I would think your would be worth $850 - $1,000 depending on condition. By the way, mine shoots real well, if I keep it clean it never sticks and the 22 lr cylinder is accurate also. Shotgunner

How does 30.62 per box of 50 for new factory ammunition suit you?  :o

Several years ago I was at the Numrich store. They were changing over to Gun Parts Corp. and had a sale. I bought several boxes of factory Remington ammo for something like $5 a box. It is hard to load the ammo to factory specs. I kept all I had, shot more then I should have. I ended up with a good supply of brass and bullets. I have often thought I should have a 22 WMR re-chambered and be able to use .224 bullets. It would need a center fire hammer. Shotgunner
