Hey Tropico.... I will have to confess, it is I. The Desert Marksman Rondezvous is basically a western fur trade event, but a lot of us dress colonial. The cannon / mortar segment was a great success. As I recall 3 cannon and 6 or more mortar ranging from 2 1/4" to golfball. We had up to 600 yards available downrange so we certainly weren't limited in that respect. One of the more popular spectator events is a "stake shoot". It involves several teams of 5 or 6 shooters using muzzleloading rifles trying to cut down a 4x4... really a lot of fun to watch. Next year.... will have to set up a "rifles vs cannons stake shoot", that should really be a hoot.
