22 WRM barrel length ?
« on: May 16, 2003, 02:25:31 AM »
most of my barrels are ten inch bull barrels I do have one 12 inch hunter ( Fox ridge ) that I am happy with. I am going to add a 22 mag. barrel and I will probably buy it from Ed. Will I lose much veloceity or accuracy if I go shorter than 14 inch?  Thanks.

I can't comment on the T/C brand barrel, but I have a VVCG 13" bull that will take Win Supreme 34 grain bullets and put them in one hole at 25 yards if I do my part. The hundred yard accuracy has only been tested hunting and it came away a champ with the longest shot taken at 115 to connect. I use an older Swift 2.5 scope on mine and this combo works great.

22 Magnum in the Contender works well for me. I always manage to pack this combo when I go shooting, even if it's to site in something else. It is just fun to shoot. I guess the accuracy has something to do with that!!

I'd vote for the 10" barrel. You really don't need more with this mild little round. BTW all of the factory barrels I've owned and been around in this caliber have been exceptionally accurate. This is on caliber I'd not go the custom route on.
